The Zenobia Association implemented the project “Building Peace and Protecting the Environment in Al-Bab City” for the years 2023/2024. The project’s goal is to enhance the role of Syrian women in peacebuilding by supporting environmental and climate justice, and by training Syrian women as peacebuilders who advocate for climate and environmental justice in Al-Bab City.
The project benefited 1,019 people (76% females and 24% males) through various activities, training workshops, and community dialogues. These efforts contributed to raising community awareness about the concept of climate justice and the impact of climate change.
Additionally, meetings were held with specialists and decision-makers in Al-Bab City, and several youth-led community initiatives were implemented to promote community participation in the field of climate justice.
By the end of the project, a comprehensive survey paper was developed to identify harmful practices that could lead to future environmental pollution, particularly affecting women in Al-Bab City. The aim was to outline practical steps, both present and future, to mitigate environmental risks and contribute to achieving environmental and social stability.
